Note to Sales #5. It's not my fault
I have found over the years that when something goes wrong and times are tough, people divide into two groups:
Group 1: These people will find anything and anyone to blame but never themselves;
- “it’s the market”
- “credit committee never agree my deals”
- “my introducers are all useless”
- “the prospect is just stupid”
Group 2: These people just take the blame;
- “the reasons don’t really matter, it’s down to me and I have to put it right”
Interestingly I would also divide these same two groups into followers and leaders or if you like an animal metaphor, sheep and tigers.
So... are you a sheep or a tiger?
